If you’re flying to Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the state of Kerala in India, you may have concerns about the number of flights available and the airlines that fly into the city. A number of large airlines fly into the Trivandrum International Airport, located in Thiruvananthapuram, including Air India, Emirates, Kuwait Airways, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways. Other airlines that fly into the airport include Kingfisher, Oman Air, Sri Lankan Airlines and Jet Airways. There are no direct flights from the United States to the city; passengers must transfer elsewhere to fly in. This airport is the tenth busiest airport overall and the eighth busiest international airport in India.
Most flights that land in Trivandrum International Airport originate either inside India or Middle East countries. Flights arrive from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and from the modern terminal in Dubai in the Arab Emirates. From the United States, passengers can fly into Dubai and then transfer to fly into the Trvandrum International Airport; flying through Dubai is the most common connection between New York City and Thiruvananthapuram. Passengers can also fly into the Abu Dhabi airport in the Arab Emirates or into the Kuwait airport to reach Thiruvananthapuram. Tiger Airways flies from Singapore into the airport.
The airport has three terminals, two used for domestic flights and one sued for international flights. The international terminal, housed in terminal 3, is the newest, opening in 2011. Terminal 3 is also the best-appointed terminal in terms of amenities and attractiveness. This terminal has air conditioning and Wi-Fi service.
To get out of the airport, you can take a taxi or bus into Thiruvananthapuram. There is no train or subway service from the airport. Several hotels offer shuttle service from the airport to the hotel, including Hotel Pankaj, Taj Green Cove and Hotel Samundra.
